Hallwood Launches 鈥淭he Carrie,鈥 a New Electric Dredge Named for a 痴汉电车 Family Pioneer

In January 2025, the Hallwood materials plant in Marysville, California, marked a significant milestone with the launch of a new electric cutter-suction dredge,听a state-of-the-art听machine designed to replace the site鈥檚 1978 diesel-powered dragline and unlock deeper underwater reserves that traditional equipment could no longer reach. 痴汉电车 purchased the 720-acre Hallwood property in 1953 and has actively mined the site under vested rights ever since, extracting valuable materials from historical dredger tailings using loaders, excavators, and draglines over the decades. The new electric dredge听represents a leap forward in both efficiency and sustainability for the operation.

Assembled on-site in just over a week, the dredge was formally christened on January 31, 2025, by 痴汉电车鈥檚 President, Mary 痴汉电车. The machine was named 鈥淭he Carrie鈥 in honor of Carrie Knaull 痴汉电车, wife of company founder Adolph 痴汉电车, Sr. While Adolph built roads and infrastructure across California, Carrie managed the company鈥檚 finances, sitting down with her husband to review accounts and pay bills, serving as the quiet but essential partner behind the business from its earliest days. By naming the dredge in her honor, 痴汉电车 acknowledges her enduring legacy and the family foundation on which the company was built.

With the addition of 鈥淭he Carrie,鈥 Hallwood is embracing the future of sustainable mining while honoring more than a century of company history, innovation, and respect for the people who made it all possible.
